Not My Face

She woke to find that the sun was no longer beaming on her face. Noticing that the temperature had dropped, she instinctively wrapped her arms around her body. She knew she needed to either adjust the thermostat or get a sweater because her short sleeved top was obviously no match for the cool October night. Ava stood and made her way to her bedroom closet. She chose a soft, fluffy throw instead of a sweater. She put it around her shoulders and walked over to her dresser where she sat and brushed her hair. Although she was facing the large oval shaped mirror, the reflection looking back at her was not her own, but that of a stranger, holding a knife in one hand and duct tape in the other.

Blind since birth, Ava never saw him coming.

Creative Storytelling with Sally and Friends

Screen Shot 2017-08-24 at 9.10.56 PM.png

Hi folks, check this out…it’s a story writing idea where we write stories -together-

Follow these instructions and let’s see what happens…

Instructions:

  • add to the story (preferably in paragraph form) in the comments section (your addition can be funny, sarcastic, cynical, sad, serious, sexual and/or anything you’d like it to be) and add a link to your blog
  • I will copy and paste your paragraphs and re-publish the story as it unfolds which will provide new prompts regularly
  • invite others to join us by specifically selecting as many of them as you’d like
  • check back and add on as often as you’d like
  • tag your post
  • To make it easy for others to see what we’re writing use “Creative Story Telling with Sally and Friends” as your title if you post it on your blog or tag it “CST”
  • Remember to follow my blog for the new story prompts which will post bi-weekly.

Now let’s see how creative we can be—-

Today’s prompt:

Today a group of ladies were standing around the water cooler talking about one of those reality TV shows. Since I’m not a fan, I filled my cup and went back to my cubicle, which apparently was not the right thing to do. I’d been back at my desk for a few moments when Mona, the “office mom”, stopped by to ask if I was feeling bad or if I was simply being anti-social. In my true to form sarcastic tone, and without even turning to look at her, I said “why yes Mona”.

__________________________________________________________________________________________

Below you’ll find a list of blogs I’ve tapped to join in. If I tapped you, it’s because there’s

just something about you… (: If I didn’t, you should stick around, your day is coming!

Now get writing and add your twist to the prompt then go visit the folks I tapped and you’ll soon find out why I tapped them——

We’re back!

Well hello everyone! As some of you may have noticed we’ve been rather quiet for several days (actually we’ve been M.I.A since the 24th of July, but who’s counting) and believe me I’ve totally missed all of you in grand style! I could make up a bunch of excuses for our absence, but the truth is so much sweeter. I, the primary writer/blogger of this collaboration, have been busy preparing for a life altering event. No, I’m not pregnant (those days are way past), and no, I’m not getting married (no further comment on that topic)! Any more guesses? Ok, never mind. I’ll just put it out there: I resigned from my job of more than 19 years in the school district, and I’ve accepted a position in another district.

Wanna Tuesday afternoon laugh? The district I left and the one I’ve joined have been arch rivals since the beginning of time!

here’s a look at the mascot from the district I left

And here’s my new mascot

Classes begin on the 10th and the big rivalry game is scheduled for the 21st. Our school has had some academic struggles in the past, but the new superintendent (who left the same district I left) took a powerhouse team to join the teams that were already in place.  We are  destined to become one of the most successful districts in the state. I’ll be sure to keep everyone updated on our academic progress. The new school motto is a favorite of mine and soon it will be seen all over our district.

I’m on a personal crusade to share our logo as a show of support for our district, the personnel and especially the students.  I’d appreciate it if you would do the same by re-blogging (either this entire post or just a brief post of your own)

Wish us luck!!!!

Cee’s Share Your World- 2015 week #22

I’ve decided to participate in Cee’s Share Your World- 2015 week #22 challenge. You can find Cee and some fun photo challenges and beautiful photography on her blog at Cee’s Photography Blog- ceenphotography.com.

Here are the instructions:
Finish these four sentences.  You can be talk about yourself or be creative and write a piece of fiction.  It’s up to you.

Complete this sentence:  Never In My Life Have I….

Complete this sentence:  My neighbour wants me to help her…..

Complete this sentence:  When I was little I wanted…

Complete this sentence:  Will you come here to…

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

There are two ways which you can participate.

  1. Create a  Share Your World  post.  Then post the link to your blog in Cee’s comment box or leave your answers in the comments box of her blog.
  2. To make it easy for others to check out your photos, title your blog post “Share Your World” tag.
  3. Remember to Follow Cee’s  Blog to get your weekly reminders.

Here is my entry:

Never in my life have I been so excited about anything that I peed my pants; until today! My neighbor wants me to help her kill her husband and bury him in the backyard then tell people he left. When I was little I wanted to be an axe murderer so this is a dream come true for me. Will you come here to my neighbors house at midnight and help us dig? I am grateful that the police did not find the bloody axe and chain saw I used last week to “off” old man Johnson. I can hardly wait this week out so that I can help my neighbor take her husband out;  I think I need to sharpen my axe blade.

#3 of 5 in 5!

Barney has been a favorite of mine since my oldest daughter was an infant. Believe it or not he has been an inspiration to me throughout the years through his songs, his silly dances and his words of wisdom. I have an entire collection of Barney videos in my collection. I decided to share one of my faves as my #3 in my 5 photos in 5 days collection.

Ewe No A Lyre

Ok everyone, I recently became a member of a poetry “club” and today I decided to enter a contest sponsored by one of the members.
The title of the contest is “Only Homo’s Allowed”

Now before anyone gets off task allow me to elaborate…

The word homo is from the Greek word meaning same and according to Wikipedia a homophone is a word that is pronounced the same as another word but differs in meaning, and may differ in spelling. The words may be spelled the same, such as rose (flower) and rose (past tense of “rise”), or differently, such as carat, caret, and carrot, or to, two, and too

Ok, here are the instructions:
“What I want is at least 10 lines or more
Any form is acceptable. But funny is always better
You must include as many Homophones as you can, If
buy chance you include a word that could have been a
Homophone and missed it, you will be N/A
There will be one first, second and third place only
Thank you and good Luck”

So here goes nothing…(let me know what you think)

Ewe No A Lyre

their once was a man with a bore
who worked down at the local bizarre
the bore eight corn colonels four lunch
and blew genes whir awl the man war

owe the bore eight serial two

NaPoWriMo Day 13

Today’s prompt: “today I challenge you to write a riddle poem”

This one’s easy for me as I have a “Riddle Me This” category right here on my blog. Although I considered copying and pasting one of my old riddles I decided to write a new one just for NaPOWriMo.

Here ye here ye

Let it be known

Im still really small

Even when I’m full grown

Either way Im very helpful

During youth or old age

My worth does not waiver

No matter my life stage

I pig out on things

That creep some folks out

Im quick when I grab em

As I lurk all about

So not everyone values

My size, style, or worth

Is it my color

Or perhaps my girth

Wait, I’m no fat guy

Im sleek, slender and slim

Im fast when I move

I go limb to limb

Got it now? Do you know what I am?

Ok need more clues

Look closely at the pic

At the different green hues

Im right there in front

Im trying to blend in

You can call me Waldo

When you find me you win!
