The Treehouse Project—phase 2

Well here we are at the start of phases 2 and 3 of this project. We’ve added three sections of plywood to form our north walls and we’ve also rooted our first pallet planter which will be mounted on one section of the wall. The planter is filled with bougainvillea plants, petunias, creeping jennies, purslane and Cooper’s ice plants.  Not familiar with pallet planters? They are old wooden pallets lined with landscape fabric and filled with potting mix. The flowers are then added by cutting holes in the fabric then planting the flowers in the holes.  In our experience, pallets with wider spaces work best. If you are into growing your own herbs, pallets make perfect herb beds also. We plan to mount two pallets on the north side of the treehouse, one full size and one that we will cut to fit into the smaller space on the right. In the pallet pics below, the first one is a shot taken the day we planted the flowers (approximately 2 weeks ago) and the second one was taken just yesterday. We’re excited to see the new blooms and the new growth. We will post more pics after we plant the next pallet and get them both mounted on the walls. The last part of phase 3 will be adding some type of painted designs to the plywood walls.

Enjoy~~~~
