WalMart, is that you?

Ok… so last night we went into a WalMart Super Center we’d never been in before. Oh my goodness… we were tempted to walk back outside to look at the building signs to be sure it was actually a WalMart. Now before we share the strangeness of our visit, let me set the stage: 1- it was a Friday night and 2-  it was after 11 p.m.

So here’s what we experienced/were exposed to:

1.  There were so many people in there it seemed like an after Christmas sale day.

2.  It was so noisy the building had a constant hum going on.

3.  Most of the people in the store were between the ages of 4 and 18.hqdefault

4.  Approximately half of the occupants were wearing socks- mismatched socks- without the benefit of shoes to cover them.

5.  The attire for the evening, among the male and female patrons, demonstrated a dire need for the purchase and distribution of belts and clothing (in general) made of larger pieces of fabric.

6.  When we approached and asked a young lady (who was wearing an employee name tag) for assistance in locating an iron, we were told, and I quote “they over there somewhere with the ironing boards”.

7.  The electric wheelchairs should have had signs attached saying “For Entertainment Purposes Only” because they were being used by young people as scooters or bicycles or something

Hi, is this an odd name for a blog or what? We'd actually prefer it to be known as a peaceful, magical and mystical spot. It's a spot where you can stop in for a daily dose of love and laughter sprinkled with a bit of chaos, confusion and lunacy. You can get great recipes and cooking tips, as well as drilling and building ideas. Who does that? Who knows their way around the kitchen and around the tool shed? Well, I guess that's part of what'll make this blog so interesting - that and the brief glimpse you'll get into a very elite and exclusive lifestyle - one that supports a "never a dull moment" and "everything ain't for everybody" attitude. By the way, remember to keep an open mind (no judging or finger pointing), a watchful eye (be on the lookout for random giveaways), and a positive -pay it forward-attitude (everybody could use an occasional leg up). Now I know it sounds easy, but don't get it twisted, this "dance ain't for everybody", it's not always a bowl full of cherries, but we make the best of it by drinking a whole lot of lemonade and by praying daily for peace, patience and understanding; after all, we woke up like this!

    1. Definitely a hangout. I was forced to accept the reality that not all small towns have bowling alleys, or movie theaters, or pizza joints… or even McDonald’s restaurants? Wow, now that I think about it.. why were all of these young people “hanging out” in WalMart? Geez! Sam Walton would be proud… I think…NOT

  6. My mother uses those scooters because she has difficulty walking, but she’s more dangerous than any youth using them for entertainment purposes! Personally, I’m fortunate enough to live in a city large enough to have public libraries for entertainment, but watching my mother try to navigate one of those scooters would likely go viral were I to post a video to YouTube. 😉
